GP Mental Healthcare Plan
What is it?
From 1 November 2006, new Medicare rebates are available for patients to receive up to 12 individual or group allied mental health services per calendar year, under the Australian Government's "Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative
This is provided in two sets of six services with a review by the referring doctor after the 1st six services. Some clients referred through a paediatrician, may be eligible for an additional six sessions.
Rebates are generally available for our clients with "Sensory Processing Disorder" (SPD) related to the resultant anxiety, struggle coping with school, obsessive-compulsive behaviour, other behavioural issues, anger management, attention, sleep and self-esteem issues. Young children with SPD are also often eligible for this, as they are "at risk" for major issues in the future.
