Lexia Reading
Lexia Reading is an interactive, educational software tool used for helping students learn to read and increase academic performance. Students learn skills in sequencing, logically building an understanding, while gaining competency and preparing for the next skill. Computerized diagnostic assessments screen for at-risk students, also helping to identify false positive students. Reports diagnose a student’s skill level and identify areas where practice or instruction is needed for an individual or for a whole class, school, or district. This data helps therapists and teachers monitor their students’ progress. Lexia provides printable lesson plans and practice sheets to target specific areas of difficulties, for each student, individually.
All of Lexia’s products are designed according to the latest scientific findings in education and interface design, and are tested for outcomes in schools. Lexia has self-funded much of its own research and maintains a substantial national database of student performance data. Additional research funding from state and Federal agencies has included the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Proven Results
Scientifically based, peer-reviewed studies evaluating Lexia products have shown their effectiveness with multi-ethnic populations in Texas, Massachusetts, Utah, Connecticut, and the United Kingdom. The use of Lexia Reading software supported achievement gains by study groups that proved to be significantly superior to those achieved by control groups receiving equal amounts of traditional instruction and practice. These proven results are published in 3 different scientific, peer-reviewed journals.
