Testimonial: Play15 Workshop
This workshop for parents was a wonderful practical way to help my husband and I enter our child's world. We learnt the power of play to help us to connect with our child which is what we want to do more than anything.
We feel we are empowered with the knowledge and information necessary to give us the direction to develop a loving relationship with our ASD child.
It has been difficult to communicate with our child and we were at a loss as to why some of our approaches were aggravating her, but now that we can see things more clearly from her point of view, we certainly know how to improve our techniques. We can really see why our child doesn't like doing certain activities and reasons behind this. We can also see why our child likes to do certain activities.
To learn how to play with our child was wonderful as this will be the key to starting more meaningful communication interactions and perhaps allow learning to occur more easily.
Now that we have the manual, we can refer back to the 15 Core Elements that our child needs for development and we can work on play exchanges that develop the elements our child avoids.
Completing the profile activity was a wonderful eye-opener to help us understand our child.
The presenters were professional, yet personable and they shared their wonderful knowledge with us in a lively, varied way incorporating lots of hands-on activites that were a great way for us to learn.
I would highly recommend this workshop to help all parents of ASD children learn so much about their child.
